The man was an ex-soldier in Savoy. He was once involved in the attack on the Musketeers whilst they were asleep on the French border on Good Friday. Five years later, he was captured and imprisoned by Marsac who wanted revenge for his dead comrades. Tortured, the soldier explained that the Duke of Savoy and Chancellor Cluzet had been tipped off by Captain Treville. Taunting Marsac to his limit, the soldier was killed, ending his interrogation.
