Knight Takes Queen is the ninth episode of the first series of The Musketeers.

The episode was written by Peter McKenna and directed by Andy Hay. It premiered in the UK on 23 March 2014.

Synopsis edit

Queen Anne's taking of the waters is cut short when her life is put in mortal danger. Meanwhile Louis dines with wealthy German banker Count Mellendorf, who is looking for a French match for his beautiful daughter.

As the Musketeers try to spirit Anne back to Paris, they're forced to seek refuge in a fortified convent, where Aramis comes face to face with his past. Under siege and fearful for their lives, the mother superior and nuns help the Musketeers to defend the convent, but what will they do once they run out of ammunition?[1]

Plot edit

The Queen goes to the river of fertility for a ritual where she is attacked. The musketeers Athos and Aramis takes her to a convent while Porthos and D'Artagnan ride to the palace to inform about the attack. Aramis sees that his ex-fiancee is mow a nun who dies later during an attack. Meanwhile in Paris, Charlotte Mellendorf and King Louis flirt with each other and the king tells Cardinal of his interest in getting married to her as the Queen is unable to produce any heir. Cardinal orders Milady to get the Queen killed for his personnel gains. Milady gives the job to a former soldier. Although the king before said to the Cardinal of wishing the Queen dead, he gets worried on hearing about the attack on her. Meanwhile in the convent, Aramis and Queen Anne fall for their growing affection for each other and fall in bed with each other only to be found out by Athos next morning who scold Aramis for sleeping with the Queen. Porthos and D'Artagnan returns with Captain Treville and along with Athos, Aramis and the nuns fight the attackers.
