Good Friday was the last friday before Easter. On this day, the Queen of France would visit the Chatelet to grant clemency to a handful of prisoners and they were released back in their own lives with a sum of money.

In 1625, on the border between France and Savoy, a group of Musketeers were killed under the orders of the Duke of Savoy. Aramis and Marsac were the only survivors.[1]

In 1630, the criminal Vadim used the Queen's visit to plan an escape from the Chatelet. In the escape, the Queen's life was threatened, but she was later saved at the cost of letting a feared criminal run free.[2]
